Keith Dwight Millis (May 20, 1915 — July 6, 1992) is the inventor of ductile iron, which is one of the most revolutionary advances in the history of metal research.

In 1943, 75 years ago, he made his discovery while experimenting with molten iron and magnesium. Ductile iron proved to be strong, durable, and corrosion resistant.

Ductile Iron castings are used in almost every industry, such as automotive, machine building, tools, refrigeration, power plants, oil fields, and construction.

Today ductile Iron pipes are regarded as the most preferred pipes for drinking water supply by Water Engineers all over the world.
