Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim is located on a ridge at a height of 5500 feet. With a spectacular view of the Khangchendzonga, it draws tourists from all over India and abroad.
Over the years Gangtok transformed from a sleepy hamlet to a bustling town as the population swelled.
And more people meant more water — and more wastewater.
At some point the authorities realised to effectively remove the dirty water generated in the city, the ancient sewerage system needed an entire revamp.
Ductile Iron pipes from Electrosteel were an automatic choice, thanks to their considerable reputation for surviving the harshest terrains all over the world.
The sewerage project, implemented in 2009 with DI pipes from Electrosteel, is serving Gangtok well.
Unlike the film director Satyajit Ray’s mystery thriller, there is no ‘gondogol’ (trouble) in Gangtok — as far as#Electrosteel DI pipes are concerned:)
