Electrosteel Group in Sahara desert
A large part of Algeria lies within the Sahara desert. Predictably, the drinking water supply in Algeria is characterized by challenges.
Electrosteel has been supplying pipes to the North African country of Algeria since 2005.
We are happy to share that amongst Electrosteel’s achievements in the desert country are a substantial increase in the amount of drinking water supplied from reservoirs, long-distance water transfers and desalination at a low price to consumers.
For a project named ‘Koudiat Acerdoune’, about 106.6 kms of 300–1000mm DI Pipes were laid by GTH Annaba and Hydro Amengament in 2009–10, to carry water from the Koudiat Dam to Algiers city (shown). This included 33.9 kms of PU pipes.
This was our first major supply of Polyurethane coated pipes overseas.
For another project, ‘Transfert D’eau De Djinet Algeria’ about 50.7 km of 400–1200 mm DI pipes were laid by Societa Italiana Per Condotte D’Acqua Spa in 2010–11. The project also had some quantity of PU pipes.
We are proud to have contributed to Algeria’s progress.
