The Edgar Avril water catchment operation, in Tampon, a city located in the French Reunion Island, is an example of a complex and well-orchestrated logistical organisation, for the delivery of our Electrolock DN 450 “off-road” pipes and fittings.

The construction site consisted of creating:

- A water network from the drinking water source at the Edgar Avril catchment to an existing pumping station, with the laying of 6 km of pipe and Electrosteel DN 450 fittings.

- A drinking water network to supply the small village of Grand Bassin.

The highlights of the project were:

The source of the catchment was located between two natural mountains with a sheer drop of about 45° and an altitude difference of 700 meters.
The construction site was inaccessible by road.
It took 6 months to prepare the worksite with the supply of all the materials and work equipment by helicopter.
To preserve the fauna and flora of this protected area, all the #DuctileIronPipes and Fittings were delivered by helicopters to Bois Court, the logistics base for the project. (It took less than 15 seconds to deliver each Pipe to the site, such was the precise planning and co-ordination)!
The delivery rate of our Electrolock Pipes and Fittings was just like the site — exceptional — with more than 100 20-foot containers delivered in the space of one and a half months!!
Our proposal of a technical solution was totally adapted to the site: the Electrolock locking system. This UV-resistant, long-lasting locking system allows the same Pipe to be laid at any point on the site without ever changing the laying technique.
