Continuing the #ElectrosteelGroup initiative ‘Chu Kar Mere Man Ko (‘You Touched My Heart’), where employees share an incident that touched their hearts. Do share!

NABANITA DAS of #ElectrosteelCastingsLtd (Haldia Works) writes:

“During the super cyclone Amphan… at 4:00 pm the destructive storm started blowing at Haldia. The three of us were at the water treatment plant. As the storm became stronger, the aluminium sheets started blowing off.

We were very scared and decided to escape to the administrative building, which was quite some distance from us. It was also raining heavily, and I didn’t want to get wet due to the fear of the Covid-9 virus.

That’s when my colleague KALIPADA GHORAI offered me his new, unused rain coat. I was really touched with his generosity, this helped me escape from that dangerous place.

When the storm calmed down we left the office to go home in company vehicles, but soon we realised all roads were blocked (because of the uprooted trees). I had no choice but to walk through dark and empty roads.

Which is when SHYAMAL DAS, a colleague from the Accounts Dept stepped in. He walked with me down the empty roads, back to my family. He was from a village where the mobile network was down and he couldn’t get through to his family — yet he walked me all the way to safety.

Through ‘Chu Kar Mere Mann Ko’, I want to thank both of them.

Thank you Kalipada and thank you Shyamal!”
